Agco Corporation, a global leader in designing, manufacturing and distributing agricultural equipment, delivers farmer-focused solutions such as the Legacy Controllers from its Automated Production Systems division. 

Sold initially as farming equipment controllers to manage climate control, feeding systems, biosecurity, and other farm equipment, the Legacy Controllers first required manual intervention to adjust their parameters. Although Agco had introduced new products with screens and mobile alerts, some farmers strongly demanded that they leverage their existing controllers. 

A partner of Agco since 2017, Axceta was brought into the project to help design the cloud architecture and help implement a solid and secure large-scale update of the firmware that allowed the Legacy Controllers to connect to the cloud. In a short 6-month timeframe, the project completed in 2023 allowed the deployment of the new firmware to several thousands of farming equipment. Working with Agco R&D Automated Production teams, Axceta brought its IoT expertise to the team in charge of connectivity. 

Easy to install, the firmware update not only extended the lifespan of the farmers’ equipment (up to 100 systems per farm) but also significantly improved the farmers’ quality of life, allowing them to :

• Monitor their systems remotely, getting more from their existing controllers in a few minutes and saving time by avoiding unnecessary farm visits,
• Work smart, eliminate surprises and make each visit more productive,
• Extend their equipment lifespan by upgrading them instead of replacing them.
