We recently attended the second edition of the All In conference in Montreal, a pivotal event that brought together Canadian companies and government agencies to discuss innovation and artificial intelligence (AI). The conference attracted a diverse and enthusiastic audience, all eager to delve into the future of technology and its applications.
A Unique Focus on IoT
As representatives of Axceta, a Canadian company specializing in IoT solutions for sectors like AgTech, Mining, and Energy, we were pleasantly surprised to find ourselves among the few companies focusing specifically on the Internet of Things (IoT). The significant synergy between AI and IoT made our presence especially relevant.
Engaging Conversations at Our Booth
During the conference, our booth became a hub for engaging discussions. Attendees showed keen interest in topics like Edge AI and the role of generative AI within IoT solutions. We seized the opportunity to illustrate how IoT bridges the physical and digital worlds, enabling innovative applications and scenarios that utilize real-time data. Although many event dialogues focused on generative AI and large language models (LLMs), we successfully redirected conversations to highlight AI’s benefits in predictive analytics, anomaly detection, and other IoT-relevant applications. We emphasized the advantages of running AI at the edge, facilitating faster processing and decision-making.
Showcasing Customer Innovations
We were thrilled to welcome several Axceta customers at our booth, including Neuromines and Abitibi Geophysics, who highlighted their innovative AI applications in the mining sector. Their insights enriched our discussions, showcasing the tangible benefits of merging IoT with AI.
Moreover, we were delighted by the presence of LithologIQ, with whom we’ve developed an exciting Edge AI solution. Their presentation highlighted the potential of our collaboration and the robust capabilities of IoT and AI working together.
An interactive, insightful – and sold out – workshop
To further engage with event attendees, we organized a workshop titled “Bridging AI and the Real World: Lessons from Energy, Mining, and Agriculture.” This session delved into the role of IoT and connected devices in harnessing AI for valuable insights across various sectors. Rather than a one-way presentation, the workshop fostered discussions on practical cases, urging CTOs, CPOs, and R\&D leaders to assess their AI needs and objectives while allowing Axceta experts to suggest strategic IoT solutions.
We were fortunate to have Alain Beauséjour, General Director of Groupe MISA, Patrick de Grasse, Director of Engineering, Smart Products, Agco, and Guillaume Girard, CEO-CTO-Strategic Advisor, co-leading the workshop alongside our CEO, Sherif Zaroubi. Each brought a wealth of experience and domain expertise to the table.
Sharing our experience
Axceta’s CTO, Francis Latulippe, participated in a panel discussion titled “AI Powering the Energy and Natural Resources Sectors,” alongside thought leaders from Schneider Electric, Hydro Québec, GeologicAI, and Énergir. He offered a unique perspective on how IoT seamlessly integrates the physical and digital worlds, providing AI with near real-time data. This integration opens up diverse new scenarios and solutions within the Energy and Natural Resources sectors.
Key Takeaways
A key takeaway from the All In conference was the recognition of IoT as the foundation of data pipelines. These pipelines are vital for AI, enabling models to stay connected to the physical world almost in real-time. In discussions with individuals and companies exploring IoT, we consistently highlighted the importance of a robust IoT strategy and the implementation of secure, scalable solutions. This infrastructure is critical for providing AI with the data necessary to produce valuable and actionable insights.
Reflecting on insights from the All In conference, it’s evident that Axceta is uniquely positioned to assist companies across diverse industries in leveraging AI by connecting the digital and physical realms with IoT devices and sensors. The potential is immense, and we are thrilled to continue leading the way in implementing innovative solutions that foster progress within our communities and beyond.
